Early today at 10 am, Plaxico Burress took the plea deal and pled guilty and will be serving two years in State prison. He will be arraigned on September 22. It's so sad to hear how it all came about today. Plax came to the courthouse as soon as it opened at 9:30 this morning, and sat in the fifth row of the court room waiting for his turn. He sat quietly with his attorney rocking back and forth. His attorney then went to the judge and they discussed the terms of his plea deal. The deal is that he will be serving 2 years in state prison and two years in post release supervision. Also the judge has stated if Plaxico gets arrested between now and September 22, he will have to face up to 7 years in prison.
The thing that makes mad the most is that when this first started, the D.A. gave him a deal which he would've served 2-5 months in prison and 1,500 hours of community service. But, his dumb self didn't want to serve time in prison which is dumb as hell. Hello did he hear what New York's Mayor Michael Bloomberg said when the story first came out. He wanted him to serve the three and a half year or more for this, so we all knew he was serving time like it or not. Not only did the mayor wanted him to serve time, but the D.A. office also wasn't going to let him get out of this without serving some jail time. he should've learned from Michael Vick's and Donte Stallworth's case. For him being so stupid and naive of the situation, he now has to take an even harder punishment that might keep him out of the NFL for the rest of his football career. But, if he does come back still looking good and playing good, then maybe he might be able to come back to the league. the NFL is known to giving second chances to players after serving a couple time.
So, Plaxico will be serving 2 years in prison with a chance of good behavior of only serving 18-20 months and likely to be released by spring of 2011 if he starts serving his time as soon as possible. He is now 32 years-old, so when he is released he will be about 34 years-old; which means he would be as the end of his career. Hopefully he will still be in shape and ready to play when he comes back. He just needs to hope that there will be a team that will take a chance on him, and someone like Tony Dungy in his life when he is released. I only wish for the best for him and hope nothing happens to him prison (don't drop the soap or turn your back at anytime). I also hope the best for his wife and child at home. i know his baby will definitely miss daddy while he's gone. Plax needs to hurry up and serve his time so he can come home to his family, that is the most important thing right now.
