Memphis Tigers

The Memphis Tigers must vacate their NCAA-record from the 2007-2008 season and serve three years probation for violating NCAA rules. So, all the work that coach John Calipari did with Memphis in the 2007-2008 season has been taken away. The 38 games win and reaching the NCAA championship does not exist at all. Memphis president Shirley Raines, said after the announcement that the school will be appealing what she called an unfair penalty.

"We know the rules. We did our due diligence. We did everything we could to determine the student-athlete was eligible and that the rules were being followed." Raines said.

In May, Memphis was accused of several major fractions under Calipari, which includes a fraudulent SAT score by a player and providing close to $1,700 in free travel to a player's family member. In which all of these cases are all surrounding Derrick Rose and brother Reggie.

It must really suck that all Memphis has done last season will be taken away from them. Which I think it's stupid cause we all know what happened and remember it no matter what, but in the books it doesn't exist at all? NCAA needs to come up with new punishments for the league. Also it really doesn't effect the people that were actually involved in the accusations neither. Derrick Rose is in the NBA doing his thing, while Coach Calipari is now coaching Kentucky like nothing happened. I think if the NCAA wants to punish somebody, then they need to go after Rose and Calipari. Make Rose pay the money back and suspend Calipari for a couple of games or something and put him on probation or something. I'm just saying right now it must really suck to be a Memphis Tiger. :(
