NBA News

Denver Nuggets JR Smith and Phoenix Suns Jason Richardson has both been suspended by the league for recently being convicted of driving offenses. Both suspensions were made today and are without pay.

Jason Richardson has been suspended for the first two games after pleading guilty to driving under the influence in Arizona. Richardson was arrested on February 15, 2009, after he was speeding 90 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. When he was stopped, it showed that he had his three year old son seat unrestrained. He was booked for speeding, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment of a child.

JR Smith has been suspended for the first seven games for all of his recent driving situations. In June 9, 2007, JR and two passengers were involved in an accident, in which JR and another passenger were ejected out of the car. The other passenger, Andre Bell later died due to head injury. It was said that JR had gone through a stop sign and collided with another car. He then plead guilty on June 30, 2009 for the incident and was to serve 90 days in prison, but ended up serving 30 days. The 60 days were suspended, on the condition that he completes 500 hours of community service.
