Eastern Conference Starters:
Dwyane Wade
Allen Iverson (WTF)
LeBron James
Kevin Garnett
Dwight Howard
Western Conference Starters:
Kobe Bryant
Steve Nash
Tim Duncan
Carmelo Anthony
Amar'e Stoudemire
The West's starters are great but the East starters well ?... From all the good guards out there that should have been a starter instead of Iverson. I love Iverson, he is a future Hall of Famer, but he doesn't deserve to be a starter. He hasn't done anything yet this season, but go back to the 76ers that's all. This voting is why a lot of people think that the fans shouldn't get the chance to vote. You never get something like this in the Pro Bowl selection smh... Other than that, the East is looking pretty strong, just hope the reserves are better than this. Some of the East players that the coaches should consider are Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Joe Johnson, Jamal Crawford, Shaq, Vince Carter, Rashard Lewis, David Lee, Chris Bosh, Josh Smith, and Gerald Wallace. This is going to be very tough for the coaches to pick, I'm just happy that I won't be picking.
The West's starters are looking very strong, having the leading scorer in the NBA (Melo), the star in the best team in the NBA (Kobe), and a man who dominates in assists (Nash). Now if you think the starters are huge just think about the reserves that need to be chosen. JR. Smith, Chauncey Billups, Chris Kaman, Richard Jefferson, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Brandon Roy, Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Zach Randolph, and Lamar Odom. Good luck :)
Besides the All-Star game (which will be on Valentines Day), the event that I always anticipate to watch, the event that made me fall in love with the NBA is the SLAM DUNK CONTEST. This year unfortunately :( Dwight Howard will not be competing, but Nate Robinson will be there to not disappoint us. Competing with Nate Robinson are Gerald Wallace and Shannon Brown. Now during the halftime of the Rookie vs. Sophomore game, Eric Gordon and DeMar DeRozan will be having a dunk off to see who will take the final spot of the Slam Dunk Contest. I think this way is better because last year's was just stupid; you had the fans pick the players not by how they could dunk, but by their other talents that had nothing to do with dunking. You know I will be watching the Rookie vs. Sophomore game to see who wins and how good they are.
This All-Star may be the biggest one ever. Not because of the players who will be there no, but it will be the place where they will be playing. This years All-Star Weekend will be in Dallas, Texas in the new Cowboys Stadium. The stadium will be holding more than 80,000 fans; that will be the most fans ever to be attending a basketball event. Which means more money for the NBA and Dallas, so its a win win situation for all.
When more information comes along for the All-Star Weekend, I will surely keep yall posted :)
