NBA Free Agency

NBA Free Agency started today and now let the games begin!

This year's free agency list is one of the biggest in NBA history. Some players on the block are LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Joe Johnson, Dirk Nowitzki, Carlos Boozer, and Amar'e Stoudemire. Of course everything is revolving around what LeBron is going to do. During the past couple of weeks LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and Johnson has all met together to discuss where they will be going.

LeBron said his decision will come sometimes around the week of July 5th and nothing longer (thank God). He will be talking to many teams in the next two days such as the Clippers, Bulls, Knicks, and of course the Cavaliers. I really do hope that he stays in Cleveland; everything he knows and loves technically lives in Cleveland. Also if the Cavaliers do sign Byron Scott as there head coach or any coach who was a former player, then LeBron really most likely stay since that's what he wants.

Dwyane Wade as we all know of course will stay in Miami, he's said it before and I'm confident he will. Thankfully the Heat has so much money now since we technically only have Beasley on contract right now, so they can afford another big name to play along Wade for next season. Pat Riley right now is talking to Boozer, Stoudemire, and Johnson to come down to Miami; I think he should also talk to Bosh. Bosh in Miami would be real big.

The Atlanta Hawk has offered Joe Johnson a contract that would be worth like $100 million. Most likely I see Johnson going back to Atlanta, which I don't see why. The Hawks still has Horford and Smith who killed it last season and are only getting better.

Now my issue with Stoudemire and Nowitzki is that I feel like they're doing this free agency thing just so they can get more money by the team that they're already in.

In other news, Paul Pierce has opted out of his contract because he wants a new and better contract with the Celtics. So the Celtics has to negotiate a contract with Pierce and Ray Allen who is also on the free agency list this season. Not to mention head coach Doc River most likely will be coming back for another season and miss his son play ball for his senior year. Did I mention his son his the high school basketball player in the state of Florida and his father has not seen him play not a single game.

This will be very interesting to see what happens and I pray that whatever Miami does, it does not involve losing Michael Beasley, Udonis Haslem, or Mario Chalmers in the process.

Yall know I will keep yall updated on twitter and on my blog :)

John Wooden

As we all know we lost one of the greatest coaches in basketball history on Friday...John Wooden passed away at the age of 99. For people that don't know who Coach Wooden is (you should be ashamed) he was the former head coach of UCLA and won 10 NCAA Championships in 12 years. He is also inducted in the Basketball Hall of Fame twice as a player in 1961 and as a coach in 1973. He has coached some of the greatest players that have ever played in the NBA such as Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2003 (which is the highest honor for civilians). In 2006 he was recognized as one of the impact on college basketball and became a member of the founding class of the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame along with Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Dean Smith, and Dr. James Naismith.

Rick Reilly of ESPN wrote; "He never made more than $35,000 a year salary (not including camps and speaking engagements), including 1975, the year he won his 10th national championship, and never asked for a raise."

Every February 29, UCLA celebrates John Wooden Day...I think that should be a national day personally (Obama make that happen).

So as we lost a great coach, we will never forget his legacy as one of the...well the greatest coach in college basketball history.

"Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful." - John Wooden (1910-2010)

Final Four

Today the Final Four finally begins.. this is something I've been since like forever. This is my first year actually being into college ball and this season didn't disappoint. March Madness has been a real madness this year.

To sum it up really simple, everybody believed that Kansas was going to win it all, but they lost in the second round against Northern Iowa 97-99. After they lost most people, including me, thought that Kentucky would be next to win it all. Yet again no Kentucky loses in the Elite 8 against West Virginia 73-66. So now the teams that are left to compete in the Final Four are West Virginia, Duke, Baylor, and Michigan State.

Butler will be playing against Michigan State tonight at 6 and West Virginia will be playing against Duke tonight around 8:30.

Since my team to win Kentucky is out, I'm gonna go with who ever wins between West Virginia and Duke. For some reason I feel like I'm the only Duke fan that doesn't go to Duke or isn't and alumni. Between Butler and Michigan State, I really want Michigan State to win just cause I don't really like Baylor, they're really starting to annoy me personally. Also I would love for Michigan State to show them that just cause you're playing in your hometown doesn't mean that you're going to win.

So make sure yall check it out, tonight starting at 6 on CBS.

NBA MVP

NBA season is almost over and the talks for MVP are in the works.

My nominees for MVP this year are: LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Dwight Howard. A lot of people may not like my nominees, but these players have been really putting it in this season. LeBron James is the leading scorer and Cavs fans will agree with me, without LeBron the Cavs are really nothing. Kobe Bryant has been killing it with a broken finger and when you watch him, you would never know that his finger was broken; on top of that he's been playing since 1996, but he is still in his prime. Kevin Durant is the second leading scorer in the NBA and giving LeBron a run for his money; because of KD playing great basketball, the Thunder are in 5th place making it the first time in the Playoffs since like forever. Carmelo Anthony is 3rd for leading scorer and always plays to the fullest. Dwyane Wade whenever he plays, you know he puts his heart and soul out there. Last but not least Dwight Howard, he leads the league in most blocks and most steals and ever season he just gets more and more athletic.

They all are great but only one can win and my winner for MVP this season is of course LeBron Jame. LeBron has been really proving this year that he deserves the award, but I do believe that Kevin Durant is still giving him a run for his money. Every time I watch a Thunder game, I already know that KD will not disappoint. Almost every game KD scores 20+ this which is crazy and did I mention that the Oklahoma City Thunder are 5th place in the Western Conference.

After LeBron and KD it really doesn't matter who comes next but here is how I would rate them:

1. LeBron James
2. Kevin Durant
3. Kobe Bryant
4. Dwight Howard
5. Carmelo Anthony
6. Dwyane Wade

MVP is usually not announced until like the Conference Finals, so lets just sit and wait to see if my picks are correct or not.

What Should I Do

Okay I know some people may get mad at me for talking about this but so what I need some opinions.

One of my best friend since like the sixth grade was very pissed off today about a situation, at first she didn't want to tell but please like she could keep anything away from me. Anyways she was telling me about this other girl who she is close to was supposedly raped by someone that I knew. I was shocked to hear this and I wanted to call the police and everything. She continued to tell me that when her father found out she called up the girl and asked if it was true because he was going to call the police. The girl was quick to say no it wasn't true and ever since then she doesn't answer my friends phone calls or text messages. Every time she sees him, she always runs the other way and tries to hide from him.

I was very pissed at first when I heard of this since I use to talk to him and it made me think like what if I continued to talk to him, would that have been me. While I was in class, I kept thinking about the situation and I started to not believe her more and more. I mean she's the type of girl that gets around (if you know what I mean), and they both do have history with each other. On top of that I did talk to the guy for almost a full year before I decided that it wasn't worth it and he was not that type of guy at all. It really makes me wonder if he changed from that time and now or is she just ling. On top of that he does have a girlfriend and she has a boyfriend.

I feel as if it was consensual, but then she realized what she did and I guess he didn't want to be with her and she was pissed about it and said he raped her...idk...Now I'm confused and frustrated about the whole situation and I don't know what to do about it. I feel as if I should go and talk to him and ask him what really happened. I know we don't talk at all, but I mean I still care for him. Then I feel as I should talk to someone and tell them about it. I'm very confused and I don't know what to do..what do yall think I should do...What would yall do if stuck in this situation.

My Dream Team

So the other I was hanging out with my brother watching the Magic beat the Cavaliers..in which the boy Dwight Howard had another double-double with 22 points and 16 rebounds (GO DWIGHT!)...anyways while we were watching the game, we were talking about who we would like to be on our dream team. I thought long and hard ( since that game was played last month) and this would be my dream team as I think about it right now:

My starting five would be:
At point New Orleans Hornets Chris Paul, after Jason Kidd of course to me, Chris Paul is the best point guard. At guard L.A. Lakers Kobe Bryant, he's Kobe Bryant need I say more about him. At small forward Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James, again LeBron James really want me to go into details. Power forward Denver Nuggets Carmelo Anthony, he is one of my favorite players and he is naturally talented; if you see him play, he can play both NBA style and international style which is amazing. And last but surely not least at center Orlando Magic very own Dwight Howard, he's like the first center I have ever seen (in my short life) to be so athletic and of course he is now my favorite player; he's also just 24 and he just keeps getting better each year, and I always enjoy watching him play.

My bench players who are just as great as the starters are Miami Heat (LETS GO HEAT) Dwyane Wade, Wade would have been a starter of course, but a man name Kobe Bryant is still killing it in the league; Wade always gives his blood sweat and tears on the court when he plays (PLEASE DON'T LEAVE MIAMI). Toronto Raptors Chris Bosh, a lot of people out their may have never seen Bosh play or may think I am crazy, but Bosh is very talented and he is one of the greatest players out their right (don't believe watch him play some day). Oklahoma City Thunder Kevin Durant, KD is crazy sick, he averages 29.8 points per and just dropped another 39 points against the Sacramento Kings; on top of all that, he is the future of the league and to me should be consider in the MVP talks this season and of course future years. Utah Jazz Deron Williams, behind Chris Paul (this is my opinion) he is the best point guard, he is very talented and like CP3, they know how to lead their team to victory.

Atlanta Hawks Al Horford, like KD he's also the future of the league and he is very talented; I've been watching him play since his college days with the Gators and to me, he's been getting better and better. Phoenix Suns Amar'e Stoudemire, Amar'e is one of those players that you would love to be on a team with because he is so passionate when he plays and you always see it in his eyes. Utah Jazz Carlos Boozer, when I was making this list, I tried to narrow it down, but I just couldn't take Boozer out; when I watch him play, I always feel as if he's giving it all and he wouldn't mind being back-up as long as he's winning.

Their were some players that I had to think very hard as to if I would actually want them on my team, but then after watching them play, they changed my mind completely. Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose, he's the future leader of his team and has so much talent and dedication which I would love on my team. Miami Heat Michael Beasley, no I didn't pick because he plays for my favorite team, I chose because when I see him play, he has so much talent and the potential to learn so much; when he stays out of trouble and puts his mind and heart into something, you know he can achieve it, and like Dwight, he has a sense of humor that will keep the mood happy ans positive. Sacramento Kings Tyreke Evans, Evans is the future like the others I said and of course he is Rookie of the Year this season; with Kevin Martin gone, Evans is the future leader of the kings just watch.

And last but not least, I know he's not in the NBA just yet, but he is extra extra talented. University of Kentucky John Wall, I mean I was never really into college basketball but watching John Wall play, I can't keep my eyes off the television. He is one of those players that if the rules didn't force him to go to college, he would be in the NBA right now killing it and doing his dance. He averages 22.1 points per game, 5.5 assists per game, and 5.2 rebound per game; and it wouldn't hurt that his team is outrageous with talent and have a great coach. If you never seen him play, trust me you would love to see him do his thing.

Now when it comes to head coaches, that's a whole different story; that would take me about forever to pick the right coach.Anyways, you know who my dream team would be, who would you pick?

Kevin Durant

This may be the best season that Kevin Durant has had so far in his very very very short career in the NBA. It has been outrageous; KD has averaged about 31 points per game in February alone (and the month isn't even over yet), he originally averages 29.9 points per game this whole season making him the leading scorer this season. On top of leading the league in points, he is on a 29 games streak of scoring 25+ points; second in NBA history to do so in one season (Michael Jordan lead with 40 consecutive). He stats in an article with The Oklahoman that he doesn't care for the 25+ points streak, he cares more for a game winning streak. (check out
http://www.bostonherald.com/sports/basketball/other_nba/view.bg?articleid=1235168&srvc=rss for the full story).

A lot of people may not agree with me on this, but I really do think that KD should be considered for MVP this season. I mean he's kind of like the Dwyane Wade of the team. Don't get me wrong, the Oklahoma City Thunder is a really good team (they are number 6 in the West and 10 in the league), but KD is a really big reason that they are up there. I'm not saying he is on top of his game just yet, but he's on his way. He has a lot more years ahead of him, this is just his 3rd year in the league. To think he's doing all of this in only his 3rd season, just imagine his future.

If he is not considered in the MVP race, then I will be very disappointed (even though LeBron will most likely win). I am really looking forward to see KD break MJ's record..Oh and I almost forgot, for all the people out there that thought KD can't shoot...he is the defending champ of H-O-R-S-E in the All-Star Weekend (you have to know how to shoot for that) and he is like I said the league's leading score and it's not from dunking or free throws (he's kind of too small to be dunking on everyone)

If you don't believe me, just check him out...If you don't know who he is (shame on you), still check him out.. number 35 for the Oklahoma City Thunder (formerly known as the Seattle Super Sonics...I know Seattle regretting what there decision right now).
