NBA News

Denver Nuggets JR Smith and Phoenix Suns Jason Richardson has both been suspended by the league for recently being convicted of driving offenses. Both suspensions were made today and are without pay.

Jason Richardson has been suspended for the first two games after pleading guilty to driving under the influence in Arizona. Richardson was arrested on February 15, 2009, after he was speeding 90 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. When he was stopped, it showed that he had his three year old son seat unrestrained. He was booked for speeding, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment of a child.

JR Smith has been suspended for the first seven games for all of his recent driving situations. In June 9, 2007, JR and two passengers were involved in an accident, in which JR and another passenger were ejected out of the car. The other passenger, Andre Bell later died due to head injury. It was said that JR had gone through a stop sign and collided with another car. He then plead guilty on June 30, 2009 for the incident and was to serve 90 days in prison, but ended up serving 30 days. The 60 days were suspended, on the condition that he completes 500 hours of community service.

Around the NFL

The Denver Broncos has suspended wide receiver Brandon Marshall for his action on Wednesday during practice. He has been suspend for the last two preseason game for conduct detrimental to team. In other terms, he has been acting up in practice and so the team has suspend him for his action. I think the only reason why the Broncos did this is so they can hurry and make it clear that they don't want him here. Also that they will either trade him or release him, whichever is easier and quicker for them

Michael Vick played his first game since 2006 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 4 completions for 4 attempts for 19 yards, and a one-yard run in his debut. He did look better than all the other quarterbacks that have been playing and haven't been gone (won't name any names, but y'all know who I'm talking bout). He will be playing the last preseason game also since that will be his last game before he is reinstated to the league. Not to mention, i never thought that there were going to be so many Vick supporters in Philly like I say at the first game.

The New York Jets has named rookie Mark Sanchez as there starting QB for the season. Mark is the first rookie to start as QB for the Jets since 1977. They believe that Sanchez will help them get tot he Playoffs and hopefully he does. I guess we will have to see what happens.

The Minnesto Vikings' lockerroom has been divided into three sides; one side that supports Brett Favre, another that supports Tarvaris Jackson, and the last one that supports Sage Rosenfels. But, Favre doesn't lead the score of support on the team, whick I definitley agree with. Favre will be here for maybe only this year and the Vikings are going to give up there QBs for no reason which is so dumb. But hey, they're not my team for the Super Bowl, so do what you got to do.

It seems that the people in New Orleans can relax now, the Saints will be staying in the N.O. Lawmakers approved the lease arrangement Friday that has the state renting downtown New Orleans office space from the owner. The approval states that the Saints will be staying in Louisiana through 2025.

Plaxico Burress

Tuesday night on ESPN's E:60, they interviewed Plaxico Burress. The interview was something that I believe Plaxico needed to do. He went on and told his side of the story and even though I always supported him and I'm glad he came out and told his full side of their story.

So here is a little summary of what had happened that night:

Plaxico gets a phone call from teammate Ahmad Bradshaw to come pick him up so they could go to the club. A couple of weeks earlier, teammate Steve Smith was robbed at gun point at his complex, which is the same place that Bradshaw lives in. So, Plaxico said to himself, 'the only way he was going over there, is if he had his gun with him.' So he took his gun with him and went to pick up Bradshaw. When going to the club he was search by the security there and they even knew he had a gun, but they still let him in. While he was walking up the stairs to the VIP section, his gun started slipping down his jeans. When trying to retrieve it, he shot himself and did not even know. While walking, he felt his jeans getting wet and so when he looked down, he realized that there were blood on his shoes. He then told his teammate Antonio Pierce that he needed to go to the hospital because he shot himself. Pierce then rushed him to the nearest hospital, and the doctors at the hospital had put him under another name (which Plaxico had nothing to do with at all). Through the whole thing he states that the New York Giants knew everything that had happened and did not seem to try and help and make things easier. He did not know the whole situation was serious until he got a phone call from the team telling him that he needed to contact his lawyer ASAP.

I mean for the Giants to just let there best receiver just lay there in dirt by himself is just wrong. I think the saddest part of the whole story was when he was talking about his family and how he is going to miss them. His wife is currently pregnant with their first daughter and is due around Thanksgiving. When he was asked that, he started crying and couldn't even talk, he just said 'it hurts.' It really hurts me to know that a man that wants to be their for his family can't because of something so stupid. So, now a son and a daughter will be without a father for two years.

To prepare for going to prison, Plaxico hired a man that will help him get around in prison. He also talked to Michael Vick, who is a good friend of his (they also grew up in the same place in Virginia), and Mike told him to keep busy, take care of yourself, stay out of trouble, and most importantly stay safe. I still don't approve of the time he has to spend in prison for something stupid. He's not a criminal, he only caries a gun for protection. He also spoke about the only reason for the gun is because he doesn't feel safe and he wants to protect himself and his family.

All I'm saying is if the Mayor and city of New York wants athletes to stop carrying guns, then help make the place safer for them so they don't have to look over there shoulders so much. They need to feel safe, and it's not only athletes lets be honest, it's everybody. I just hope that he can return to the NFL after he's done with prison...so Miami Dolphins, hit him up when he comes out. ;)

Micahel Beasley Check Into Rehab

Two sources has confirmed Monday that Michael Beasley has checked into a rehab in Houston to address concerns over emotional distress and drug problems. This all started on Saturday when Michael posted this image in which in the background shows two baggies in which it looks like weed in the bags. After posting it, he then posted some tweets stating why are people hating on me and that life was not worth living.

While in rehab he will be guided be John Lucas, a former NBA coach, who runs a center for professional athletes with substance abuse problems. Lucas also battled substance abuse while in the NBA as a player and as a coach.

Bruce Shingler, a longtime friend and live-in personal assistant said, "All I can tell you is that it's true Mike is in Houston. Mike has had some issues. But as far as all the rumors and stuff out there, I can't tell you anything about that. This whole situation was supposed to be super G-14 classified, I think. He knows he got work to do. He's a 20 year-old guy growing up in the NBA, with money and fame. It's not easy. But all of this stuff that you here isn't what it seems like. that's all I can tell you."

His mother was unable to comment at the moment. Also the Heat's spokesman Tim Donovan declined comments earlier this afternoon. It is uncertain how long Mike will be in rehab.

I just hope that Mike is okay once he comes out; set aside from the season coming up, I just want him to be mentally okay for his family. He has been through a lot this past season alone and it can be a lot on a young man who hasn't had a lot depending on them. Mike if you read this, I'm praying for you adn I really want you to come back. And all the Mike haters, stop hating!!!

Michael Beasley

Interesting Michael Beasley story....

We can't judge Michael Beasley personally because we don't know what goes on in his mind or in his life. So, for us to say we dislike him because of something he did or say, we need to listen to what he has to say and why he believes that before we judge him.

To me, Mike is like a little kid who just got wrapped up in something that he's not ready for just yet. All he needs is somebody to be like his big brother and keep him on the right track so he doesn't fall. I'm really routing for Mike (cause he is part of the future of the Miami Heat that I see), and I hope he can get his mind right before it is too late.

Around the NFL

Second week of preseason is just wrapping up and some very interesting things have accord.

Brett Favre played his first preseason game with the Minnesota Vikings against the Kansas City Chiefs. Favre as I expected sucked like crazy. Didn't see the game and you don't believe me, well here is his stats: he had 1 completion out of 4 attempts, and that one completion was for only 4 yards, which they had to punt after his whole series was over. On the other hand, Tarvaris Jackson went HAM that game; he had 12 completions out 15 attempts for 202 yards, he had 2 touchdowns and no interceptions(and to think the Vikings are letting him go). Jackson is going out and saying you're going to want to trade me instead of releasing me to a better team.

Chad Johnson..I mean Chad Ochocinco said on twitter he has a new way to celebrate and he knows he won't get fined for this one. He's going to pull a Brett Favre on us; he's going to retire then come back, but with an even bigger bang (crazy huh). In his second preseason game against the New England Patriots, not only did his thing as a receiver, nope, but also a kicker. After Chris Henry made the touchdown, Mr. Ochocinco kicked the extra point and made it to help the Bengals win the game. He also was the kicker during kick off after the touchdown. So, if the receiving thing doesn't work, Chad can always be a kicker. lol :)

Ben Roethlisburger was unable to play this week because of aggravating his Achilles tendons on Thursday, but the injury is not serious and he should be ready by next week or if he doesn't want to, by regular season's kick off.

Jeremy Shockey is a true definition of man that stands on his own. During scrimmage this week against the Buffalo Bills, Shockey got into a little altercation with a comeback, which led to an fight with two comebacks, then with about ten Bills players on top of him. The whole time I'm watching this I just wonder, what happened to the Saint's backing up there teammate? Either they don;t like Shockey or they just a whole bunch of wimps on the team.Don't want to start anything, but Jeremy you need to check your teammates, the Giants would never let that go down when you were there. But, at least the Saints won the preseason game against the Bills 38-14.

Matthew Stafford got the chance to start in his first game in the NFL, and didn't do so good. He had 5 completions out of 13 attempts for 34 yards, and 1 interception. But, he is a rookie and he does need to work harder if he expects to become the starting quarter back for the team.

Memphis Tigers

The Memphis Tigers must vacate their NCAA-record from the 2007-2008 season and serve three years probation for violating NCAA rules. So, all the work that coach John Calipari did with Memphis in the 2007-2008 season has been taken away. The 38 games win and reaching the NCAA championship does not exist at all. Memphis president Shirley Raines, said after the announcement that the school will be appealing what she called an unfair penalty.

"We know the rules. We did our due diligence. We did everything we could to determine the student-athlete was eligible and that the rules were being followed." Raines said.

In May, Memphis was accused of several major fractions under Calipari, which includes a fraudulent SAT score by a player and providing close to $1,700 in free travel to a player's family member. In which all of these cases are all surrounding Derrick Rose and brother Reggie.

It must really suck that all Memphis has done last season will be taken away from them. Which I think it's stupid cause we all know what happened and remember it no matter what, but in the books it doesn't exist at all? NCAA needs to come up with new punishments for the league. Also it really doesn't effect the people that were actually involved in the accusations neither. Derrick Rose is in the NBA doing his thing, while Coach Calipari is now coaching Kentucky like nothing happened. I think if the NCAA wants to punish somebody, then they need to go after Rose and Calipari. Make Rose pay the money back and suspend Calipari for a couple of games or something and put him on probation or something. I'm just saying right now it must really suck to be a Memphis Tiger. :(
