USC running back Stafon Johnson was finally released from the hospital. Before leaving the hospital Stafon's doctors, mother, and other family members, had a press conference. Without any hesitation, he gave the cameras a smile. Stafon's mother said that she is happy he is okay and that he is working hard to get back to being normal. She also started tearing up with Stafon when she was talking about the USC fans and organization:
"They sent everything you can possibly think to show Stafon the love, and that meant the world to get us to go along with that process."
Stafon's uncle, Kreg Anderson, read a letter written by Stafon:
"I am just filled with joy, as if I am graduating from one stage of life and on to the next obstacles. I greatly appreciate everything, and at this point, everything counts...This is not the end of anything. This is the beginning of things to come. I'll be back soon. We are fighting on."
Doctors do not know when he will be able to speak; his right vocal cord was torn away from its mooring, and his larynx was separated. When asking the doctors when Stafon will be able to play again, the doctor said that it really depends on Stafon."I don't think any physician can tell a player of they're going to play again."
When the doctor was talking, Stafon wrote another message that his mother later read. It had his twitter account and it had a message to his teammate for the game at Notre Dame:
"FIGHT ON. BEAT THE IRISH!"
